In building my own business, one of the things that has been a major pillar for the company is our benefit mandate. It's really important to me that we give back to the community we are in and also to the world at large and specifically to the arts.
Twenty One Inc gives back in a variety of ways in terms of financial donations, community outreach, educational outreach, and practical talent/skill support. One of our primary areas of focus is the use of filmmaking and the related art of photography to change the world.
A particular organization we've built a relationship with is Reel Youth, a not-for-profit, media empowerment program supporting young people to create and distribute films about their visions for a more just and sustainable world. Reel Youth works with youth-serving organizations to provide mobile stop motion animation, video production, and Reel Youth Festival programs that create and distribute messages young people most want to share with the world. They are doing some amazing work, and we are happy to be supporters of their efforts.
Another of our friends in the local community, generous and talented photographer Jonathan Cruz, is also dedicated to giving back. He recently participated in a terrific program called Help Portrait, which is a movement of photographers who are using their time, talent, and equipment to benefit those who are less fortunate. Here is a great video describing the intent and impact of the program. Jonathan contributed to the local Help-Portrait effort that took place in December. You can watch a lovely piece about that event here.
Can't we all do good business and still make a positive impact on the world around us? I think so. Be the change you want to see.
